The Basics of Building your Spreadsheet
Entering data in Excel is as simple as clicking a cell and typing. However, understanding how Excel interprets that data is what separates a beginner from a pro.

- Tab: Saves the data and moves Right.
- Arrow Keys: Moves in any direction without "entering" the cell.
✏️ Editing Content
If you make a mistake, don't just retype everything:
- F2 Key: Jump inside the cell to edit.
- Double-Click: Open the cell for specific changes.
- Esc Key: Cancel your current edit and go back.
🛠️ Try This Exercise
Create a simple price list by following these steps:
| Step | Cell | Type This |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A1 | Product |
| 2 | B1 | Price |
| 3 | A2 | Pen |
| 4 | B2 | 20 |
💡 Skill Eco Secret: The Alignment Rule
Watch how Excel aligns your data! By default:
• Text aligns to the Left.
• Numbers align to the Right.
If you type a number and it stays on the left, Excel thinks it's text—and your formulas won't work!
